Shopping in LA…

January 31, 2010

Fridays are for shopping.

Here is a little peek at our favorites…

Jen’s Three things to Love about Balenciaga:

1. It is incomparable to any other store in Los Angeles. From the galactic feel of the architecture to the volcanic rocks and cacti in the landscape, the Balenciaga store transcends the typical west coast feeling.

2. Nicholas Ghesquiere is a genius.  Every season he seems to have his finger on fashion’s pulse and know exactly where it is heading.  He is always edgy, always changing, and yet still wearable.

3. You get what you pay for.  I won’t name names, but so many designers have decided to attach high price tags and a facade of luxury to garments that really don’t fit the bill.  The fabrics, hardware, and  fit at Balenciaga all scream luxury.

Jamie’s Three things to love about Maxfield:

1. The sculptures… obviously.

Truly, though, Maxfield really captures the idea of seeing fashion as art.

2.  They have unique things that you won’t find anywhere else.  It could be a vintage crocodile birkin bag or a Libertine tuxedo shirt.  You just never know what you will find!

3. Its super private.  No crowds. No paparazzi.  No problem.

Why Kellen loves Barneys:

It is the best one stop shop.  You can be shopping for ten different people and a dozen different events and you can still find exactly what you need.  From the Jil Sander and Thom Browne’s of the world to fashion’s newest up and coming crowd, they carry them all.
